'How I like my Camembert' header image

I am a very cheesy person and there are very few cheeses that I don’t like. My favourite group of cheeses are the soft types with white mold. Camembert is one of the best known and popular of a kind. The only disadvantage of this cheese is that you don’t want to keep it in the fridge for long time (like more than a day is already long enough). Yes, it’s a bit smelly but personally it bothers me only when I am not eating it. Here I would like to share with you my favourite way of enjoying Camembert. Baked. Yes, I really love baking. Everything =) So, open your favourite bottle of red or put your preferable white in the fridge and let the party started. But first switch on the oven.

Baked Camembert

Ingredients:

  • Camembert in a wooden box
  • Garlic, 2-3 cloves
  • Rosemary, 2-3 sprigs
  • Extra virgin olive oil, a little to drizzle

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C
  2. Take out the cheese of the box, remove all plastic packaging and put the cheese back. You won’t need the lid.
  3. Make some cuts on the surface of the cheese and stick garlic pieces and rosemary little sprigs in the cuts.
  4. Drizzle some olive oil on top and bake it for about 10 min.
  5. You can eat it with crispbreads, shortbreads or simply toast some bread rubbed with garlic.

Note. You do not necessarily need to use the foil as I did, the cheese rind holds the liquid inside quite well. As to the greens, you can use thyme or sage as well.
